Your New Role

This role leads planning and executing new capital infrastructure investments as well as end-of-life, break/fix capital, and deferred maintenance projects. The role serves as a subject matter expert for infrastructure installation, maintenance and repair and supervises a team of managers and coordinators who oversee a workforce providing 24/7 support to various facilities. The role requires expertise in critical infrastructure, including power systems and cooling plants, and Building Automation Systems (BAS). Responsibilities also encompass life safety equipment, and managing significant operating and capital budgets. Additionally, the role coordinates with procurement on projects.  The role also monitors facility conditions 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.  The role requires significant project management experience and may be responsible for managing projects, reviewing project designs and supporting special events and newsgathering requirements.

Your Role Accountabilities

70% - Oversight of operations, maintenance and repair of all utility, structural and building support services of 14 administrative, datacenter and production facilities totaling ~ 4 million square feet and covering ~ 51 acres. And involvement in select domestic Design & Construction projects

  • Directly supervises three physical plant managers and one coordinator overseeing a workforce of approximately 40 employees providing 24/7/365 support to datacenter, IT, broadcast and streaming production and services as well as general office and administrative space.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in critical infrastructure including 37 Uninterruptable Power Systems (UPS), 28 backup power generators and cooling plants generating up to 8000 tons of cooling capacity supporting datacenter and live broadcast entities.
  • Act as MEP SME for domestic Design & Construction projects with focus on business mission critical systems.
  • Provide input on MEP systems risk assessment and oversight, review & approval of construction MOPs (Method of Procedure)
  • Review & comment on initial and conceptual solutions for potential design & construction projects. Involved in concept solutioning meetings and feasibility studies including input on estimated budget
  • Oversight and management of the worldwide Building Automation System (BAS) ensuring control and visibility of utility and building support systems in local and remote facilities.
  • Operates and maintains Life Safety equipment protecting ~ 5000 employees.
  • Reviews and facilitates all capital investment projects conducted on site.
  • Direct management of annual operating and capital budgets of over 30 Million.
  • Manages HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and General Maintenance capital and expense contracted services.
  • Oversees the work order control function and ensures CMMS reactive and preventative maintenance programs are executed.
  • Develops and maintains 10-year Long Range Plan for capital level structural and infrastructure end of life systems (roofs, facades, generators, chillers AHU’s, cooling towers, UPS, etc.) and develops budget inputs for those items. Provide capital budget input and recommendation for domestic portfolio
  • Directs an ongoing asset documentation and preventive maintenance system that covers all major mechanical systems, electrical, HVAC, and fire protection systems.
  • Manage facilities contractor, vendor, and service provider work.
  • Develops budget inputs for new equipment needed to properly support additional facilities maintenance requirements

25%Oversight & responsibility for the planning and execution of end of life and break/fix capital and deferred maintenance projects.

  • Coordinate with Procurement to identify opportunities for local or portfolio-wide outsourced services relevant to maintenance and operations.
  • Monitors and advises on condition of all facilities, grounds, and infrastructure to assist in the
  • planning and development of building renovations and additions.
  • Reviews project drawings and submittals, provides SME input into critical infrastructure design methodology.
  • Participates in capital construction meetings; provides punch list input.

5% - Provides logistic and engineering support to major business unit special events and newsgathering requirements.

  • Develops, implements and executes an expandable Breaking News Support Plan designed to deploy electrical and other newsgathering support elements anywhere from Texas to Washington DC.
  • Develops and deploys electrical distribution and other systems in support of various company-wide initiatives (Pride month, Breast Cancer Awareness, Employee Benefits, etc..)

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10 years + managing or designing critical electrical infrastructure including but not limited to UPS systems, generators and static/transfer switches.
  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible administrative, supervisory, and facilities management experience.
  • Minimum five years of supervisory experience, directing contract, skilled, semi-skilled and non-skilled trade personnel.
  • Experience in maintenance and service contract compliance/procurement.
  • Project management experience required in overseeing capital projects, maintenance plans, and/or renovation projects.
  • Ability to read design drawings and overlap with in-house & external design professionals
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and relate to and build teams.
  • Experience in managing the finance/budget of a large complex organization and projects.
  • Ability to manage in a diverse environment with a focus on customer service.
  • Experience in interacting effectively with stakeholders and coworkers while maintaining a professional and positive attitude and developing a team environment.
  • Knowledge of ADA and building code requirements, OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Availability for frequent work off hours or on call emergencies including weekends, holidays, or as necessary is required.

Your New Role...

Compression Engineering is a team of engineers whose responsibilities encompass the aggregation and distribution of video services to affiliate broadcasters across North America, Latin America, and Asia Pacific for Warner Bros. Discovery and Eurosport brands. The department is also responsible for Contribution across the company, between key sites both for business-as-usual operations and major live events.

The primary purpose of the position is to maintain all facets of both primary and secondary compression systems and ancillary systems on a 24/7/365 operation. Additionally, this position will maintain state of the art monitoring systems for the Distribution Monitoring and Control Center, fiber distribution systems, ADHOC compression equipment and affiliate receive systems for Warner Bros. Discovery services. The Compression Engineer will execute standards and quality control check processes for all outbound Warner Bros. Discovery services.

The role requires broad experience across Broadcast disciplines, knowledge of existing and new compression formats and a deep understanding of baseband video, video over IP and cloud-based technologies.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Implement, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot full time linear and ADHOC compression and encoding systems to maintain reliable transmissions.
  • Responds to equipment outages, malfunctions, and related technical problems.
  • Provides engineering support to all Distribution Monitoring and Control Center systems for global monitoring platforms and compliance recording systems.
  • Responsible for engineering support to the Technical Live Events team for global event contribution and distribution.
  • Performs monitoring and maintenance of Video IP distribution platforms in support of affiliate service delivery.
  • Conducts diagnostic testing, repair, and replacement activities for all compression sub systems.
  • Maintains required records of all equipment maintenance, repairs, and replacements.
  • Performs and documents testing of new equipment and compression systems.
  • Works with key vendors and escalates equipment performance and diagnostic issues.
  • Creates and implements standard operating procedures, maintenance operational procedures and test plans.
  • Receives work in the form of short-term assignments that require the application of independent judgement.
  • Receives some long-term project-based assignments in direct support of capital projects.
  • Provides technical support to Affiliate Operations teams as needed.

Qualifications & Experiences...

  • 4-6 years of experience with domestic and international television compression and distribution systems preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of baseband video, audio, and metadata with the ability to analyze and troubleshoot issues.
  • Understands the signal flow of transmission systems and can read and produce system drawings.
  • Solid knowledge of MPEG4 encoding technologies, encryption/authorization technology, baseband, and IP transport along with specific experience on DigiCipher and PowerVu compression systems.
  • Foundational knowledge of cloud-based architecture and applications for video delivery.
  • Basic knowledge of architectural, mechanical, and electrical systems and their interaction with distribution equipment.
  • Solid understanding of IP theory and operation in support of command and control as well as video transport.
  • Must be able to perform well in a high-pressure environment while juggling multiple tasks.
  • Computer literacy, excellent oral and written communication abilities and close attention to details are required.
  • Ability to work independently and provide weekly status report submissions while maintaining daily communication with the management team on day-to-day items and projects.
  • This position is considered an essential position and is full-time on-site. This means that during times of inclement weather, emergencies, or when access to the workplace may be impeded, employees in this position are expected to report to work to support business continuance, unless otherwise instructed by his/her direct manager. Overnight, weekends, holiday coverage and rotating shifts will be required.
  • Some periods of on-call coverage are required outside of normally assigned work hours.

About the Job/Responsibilities

The team is composed of multiple squads: the platform squad along with cross-functional squads that leverage the platform to develop products. As a senior engineer on our platform squad, you will work on a team of 4+ engineers and optimize experimentation, development, and production operations for our ML and AI-powered experiences. You will build and maintain pipelines and APIs, provide developer tooling, and partner on integrations.

We are looking for a creative, organized and innovative thinker with knowledge and passion for digital media, storytelling and advertising trends. This position will be responsible for the strategic development and execution of targeting products across CTV, web and mobile app.

This role is based out of New York.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop consumer-first targeting and data insights capabilities, drawing heavily on empathy for the modern news consumer and a strong command of business metrics and performance goals
  • Leverage strong analytical skills and an inquisitive nature to define, design and execute an iterative product development and optimization pipeline
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to roadmap, track and manage projects to completion on time and within budget
  • Partner cross functionally to define and optimize materials and processes to streamline the sale, execution and maintenance of innovation products
  • Ability to research consumer and advertiser trends to qualify product development decisions
  • Define and analyze KPIs that inform the success of products and efficiency of operations

The Job

The Engineer II role is an accomplished software developer.  He/she is an individual contributor, able to work with minimal supervision in an Agile development environment to build and deliver CNN apps, SDKs, and APIs. We need our engineers to be versatile and always eager to tackle new problems while working in a fun, collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Manufacturing Systems Engineer: Automation - PLC

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. As a Manufacturing Systems Engineer, you will work with a group of automation engineers who are responsible for building and maintaining various automation systems and platforms that support the GMP Drug Substance Plant Operations.

In this vital role as a member of the Facilities & Engineering (F&E) Automation team you will work hand in hand with the capital project team to deliver robust automation systems to operate the new plant utility and standalone systems. This includes sophisticated and challenging system automation initiatives that require understanding of various automation platforms, integration between different platforms, analytical problem-solving techniques, project management, lifecycle management and Operational Excellence.

  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using various PLC's such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc. and integration with the Emerson DeltaV system.
  • Develop and maintain Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system (SCADA), Trailblazer reporting system, and equipment PLC’s and interface hardware.
  • Support standalone system implementation and start-up, participate and provide technical guidance in the control panel / Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) layout and design including power distribution, grounding requirements, I/O assignments, etc.
  • Work with process subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand key process requirements and transform them into digital automated solutions.
  • Assist in continuous improvement and innovation initiatives for efficient operation and sustainability improvements of standalone systems.
  • Collaborate with business partners to understand how standalone systems can improve workflow and productivity. Synthesize requirements from clients, customers, or end-users to develop the best automation solutions.
  • Provide clear documentation for delivered solutions and processes; work closely with QA partners while supporting computerized systems validation processes in a GxP environment. Maintain Data Integrity Assessments with the current Amgen and Industry standards.
  • Build the business processes to support the project scope in alignment with project timelines. Develop detailed specification and engineering policies and procedures that affect multiple organizational units.

Ongoing operations:

  • Support functional area projects focused on improving process equipment/utilities/facilities as well as large/sophisticated capital projects to integrate new drug substance manufacturing technologies into the facility.
  • Support technical root cause analysis, incident investigations, and troubleshooting on standalone systems.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) or new technology introductions by performing automation engineering assessments, implementing automation system configuration changes, and supporting engineering and process qualification runs as applicable.
  • Assist with Day-to-Day Operational Support including: 24 x 7 Onsite/On Call Operational Support, Troubleshooting Support to Standalone Systems, Preventative and Corrective Maintenance, and Automation System spare parts management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED and 8 years of Engineering experience OR
  • Associate’s Degree and 6 years of Engineering experience OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of Engineering experience OR
  • Master’s Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, or Biotech Engineering.
  • Direct knowledge of PLC design, experience in controls engineering and troubleshooting with GMP biopharmaceutical production facility and utility equipment/systems automation such as autoclaves, parts washers, clean steam generator, WFI pretreatment RO, WFI stills, filter integrity testers, wastewater treatment systems, and integrating various OEM automation software.
  • Extensive understanding and background in programming, design, installation, and lifecycle management of standalone controls, PLC, and field device/instrumentation technologies.
  • Experience with Rockwell industrial automation hardware and systems, ability to perform sophisticated troubleshooting activities, System Integration using OPC, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, and DeviceNet technologies.
  • Ability to interpret and apply GAMPs and GMPs and familiarity with documentation in a highly regulated environment with requirements such as 21 CFR Part 11, ASTM 2500, S88, and S95.
  • Experience in Capital Project Lifecycle Management: Conceptual Design, Scope and cost estimate development, business case development, detailed design, engineering and validation documentation and project execution.
  • Hands-on experience in developing process control strategies for New Product Introduction and New Technology Deployment for Drug Substance Plant Operations.
  • Experience with continuous improvements resulting in enhanced safety, system reliability, and productivity (e.g., cycle times, and reduced plant utilities usage etc.) related to Drug Substance Plant Operations.
  • The ideal individual must be a self-directed great teammate ready to embrace a team-based culture that relies on collaboration for effective decision-making.
  • Strong technical writing and communication/presentation skills.
