About the Role:

We are looking for a visionary data scientist to lead the transformation of finance and accounting operations through intelligent automation. This role combines deep technical expertise with systems acumen to simplify processes, reduce manual effort, and accelerate AI adoption across the organization.

You will design and deploy AI-enabled solutions, including AI agents and Model Context Protocol (MCP), that automate workflows and empower teams through self-service tools, training and extensive change management within the Finance and Accounting team. You will optimize the team’s usage of various 3rd party systems including TM1, Oracle, n8n, etc.

This role requires full-time onsite presence in San Diego.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the finance and accounting team to understand workflows, pain points and control requirements.
  • Translate business needs into technical solutions that simplify and streamline operations.
  • Design, build, and deploy AI/ML business solutions (including LLMs and AI agents) and automation workflows using n8n or similar tools for use cases such as accounting close processes, forecasting and data analysis.
  • Ensure all AI and automation solutions align with compliance standards, SOX controls, data governance, and audit requirements.
  • Drive AI and automation adoption by developing training programs, documentation, and best practices for Finance stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making on AI use cases, solution approaches, and tool selection.
  • Collaborate with IT and Operations to integrate enterprise AI solutions into existing systems and processes.
  • Apply advanced analytical and AI techniques to interpret and analyze large, complex datasets from multiple systems to identify patterns, trends, and insights.
  • Improve data quality and consistency through validation rules and analytics-driven checks
  • Build dashboards and reports using Tableau, Power BI or similar tools to visualize insights and measure automation impact.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
• 1+ year of Data Science or related work experience.

*Completed advanced degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one year (Master’s = one year) of work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (MS strongly preferred) in Computer Science, AI/ML, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience building and deploying AI/ML models in enterprise environments; experience supporting Finance and Accounting teams with AI or automation initiatives is strongly preferred.
  • Supportive of an inclusive, knowledge-sharing, and team-focused culture.
  • Experience working within large global matrix organizations.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and financial data structures.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience using enterprise data platforms (e.g., Databricks/Spark) for large‑scale data processing and analytics.
  • Experience building AI automation and workflow solutions using n8n or similar tools.
  • Deep understanding of LLMs, AI agents, and context-aware orchestration (e.g., MCP).
  • Strong business acumen in Finance and Accounting with the ability to map technical solutions to operational goals.
  • Proficiency in Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools for self-service reporting and visualization.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong time‑management skills and the ability to manage priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$46.30 - $69.46

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
