AES Clean Energy (CE) is seeking a Senior Performance Engineer to support the O&M Engineering team by analyzing the performance characteristics of its rapidly growing portfolio of wind generation facilities. This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring that AES CE operates and maintains the portfolio to standards that exceed industry best-practice. A day in the life of an AES CE Senior Performance Engineer will include, but is not limited to:
Analyzing operational performance and trends of wind sites.
Remotely investigating site performance and review operational data to investigate lost energy root causes.
Leading coordination with Operations teams to share insights of portfolio performance to inform maintenance priorities.
Facilitating and collaborating with field services and other AES technical teams to diagnose developing plant and equipment related problems, advise and support major site repairs, maintenance and testing in accordance with business and contractual needs.
Coordinating 3rd party and internal reporting to inform performance analysis and meet contractual needs.
The Senior Performance Engineer supports a larger operations team and serves as the subject matter expert for technical and engineering matters related to the overall performance of wind generation assets. Excellent communication, task management and planning skills needed, in addition to technical breadth and industry experience.
While performance analysis is the primary qualification, the role will require the review of information related to all practical elements of wind facility plant operations. The successful applicant, while not an expert, will be comfortable with high-level review of all elements of wind operations.
The position may include up to 10-15% travel to project locations and partner offices.
Key Responsibilities
Operations

Assist with transition from projects under construction/EPC Engineering to operating assets

Investigate operational assets through development and use of advanced analytics tools and utilizing technical assessments/analyses to identify performance problems

Communicate and support resolution of performance and equipment anomalies to plant operations, other engineering operations team members and plant technical analysts Review production estimates from energy assessments and meteorological data sources for accuracy by comparing to operational data

Measure fleet performance against established KPI metrics and compare actual to forecasted performance

Produce monthly/quarterly/annual/ad hoc performance reports, inclusive a detailed variance analysis per contractual or internal reporting requirements.

Seek and evaluate proposals for analysis services and consultants where needed

Perform Job Safety Assessments and Safety Walks to identify job-site hazards
Collaboration

Collaborate with Operations and Engineering teams to identify underperformance and recommend improvements

“Close the loop” between Operations and Engineering by recording and communicating issues that can be mitigated through better design and operational strategies

Identify, utilize and share newly emerging technology, industry trends and advanced analytics to reduce field labor and improve operational performance and costs

Skills and Qualifications
Primary Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field

5+ Years of professional experience in engineering with focus on measuring, maintaining and improving system performance, preference in direct wind generation asset operation

Strong understanding of industry trends in tools and processes

Proficiency with advanced analysis and database tools for development of metrics and dashboards

Ability to work effectively with Microsoft software programs, including but not limited to Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint

This role is part of the Digital team, overseeing strategic planning, architecture and modernization of the Technology Architecture for the US Renewables Business. Key initiatives include defining and driving architecture strategies, developing enterprise roadmaps, supporting digital transformation initiatives, and business technology roadmap management. Qualifications and Experience

This position is on the AES Indiana Relay/SCADA team, responsible for installing and maintaining protective relay and SCADA systems in IPL’s substations (4kV – 345kV) and power plants. The role supports Relay/SCADA technicians and manages engineering equipment replacement/upgrade projects of limited scope.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an ABET accredited college/university.
- Five (5) to eight (8) years of progressively responsible engineering experience.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in Protective Relaying or SCADA systems on electric utility transmission and distribution systems and at power plants.
Preferred Skills:
- Relay setting development experience on both transmission and distribution systems
- Ability to perform relay coordination studies and experience with short circuit modeling software (e.g., ASPEN OneLiner)

Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Robotics Perception and AI Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing and implementing cutting-edge perception and AI algorithms to enable our robots to understand and interact with the world around them. You will leverage your deep expertise in computer vision, machine learning, and robotics to drive innovation and solve complex challenges. Duties will include developing advanced perception algorithms for tasks such as object detection, segmentation, and pose estimation, as well as leading the technical roadmap for the perception part aligned with our vision and Product Roadmap.

The Senior Project Engineer on the Mega and M&A Engineering team will be responsible for design and engineering of utility scale solar PV and energy storage projects in development and construction phases. Responsibilities include lead and support engineering activities across the full project lifecycle, including design development and peer reviews, energy and performance modeling, equipment selection and specifications, and preparation of engineering calculations. Provide technical inputs to support Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) pricing estimates, RFP responses, permitting applications, design drafting, and technical due diligence for M&A project evaluations. Project Execution

- Develop scopes of work and technical contract exhibits.
- Seek and evaluate proposals for engineering services.
- Manage engineering consultants and EPC contractors to develop project construction drawings and support materials.
- Perform technical project due diligence and project engineering design reviews.
- Coordinate feedback from internal stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) on design reviews.
- Value engineer PV and BESS system designs to maximize reliability and reduce overall project cost.
- Establish/review technical specifications of owner furnished equipment in coordination with Procurement and Sourcing.
- Technical support during construction including:
- Respond to contractor requests for information (RFIs).
- Perform quality assurance (QA)/ quality control (QC) checks in the field.
- Develop punchlists.
- Support commissioning activities with internal Technology/Commissioning teams and external stakeholders.
- Review commissioning reports and analyze system performance.
- Support internal Owner’s Engineering team through financing activities.
- Support Operations/Asset Management teams to resolve technical issues at operating sites.
- Assist Development and Project Management teams with budget development and key financial inputs.
- Develop and implement technical solutions to region/market specific requirements in coordination with Director of Engineering, Mega Projects.
Growth and Leadership
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives for the development and execution of safe, quality, and high-performance projects.
- Develop inter-engineering processes for sharing information and best practices among the team
- Manage relationships with 3rd party engineering consultants and firms utilized by the team
- Mentor and train the team on changing trends in technology, best practices, and safety
- Participate in AES Clean Energy’s growth planning process by contributing to process improvement task forces and other strategic planning activities
Skills and Qualifications
Primary Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field
- 5+ years of professional experience in solar PV system design, development, construction, and analysis preferred
- Proficiency in PV system design, including 1-line and 3-line diagram conventions, NEC design requirements, overcurrent protection sizing, utility disconnecting means requirements, equipment selection, grounding methodologies, and short circuit current analysis
- Experience with medium voltage collector system design
- Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Proficient with MS Office Suite
“Plus” Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Engineering
- PE license
- PMP Certification
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional certification
- 2-5 years of experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems design and modeling
- Experience with MATLAB, ETAP, SKM, and other advanced modeling tools
- Substation/HV design experience
- NFPA 70E, OSHA 10-hr or comparable job-site safety certification

The AES Cyber Security Team is looking for a Cloud Security Engineer responsible for assisting in the maintenance and improvement of incident readiness and response efforts to defend our cloud environment. The individual in this position will work as a member of the Cyber Defense organization responsible for a variety of cybersecurity functions utilizing their understanding of cyber security practices and technologies.
The candidate should demonstrate the ability to conduct incident response activities with a focus on cloud platforms, recommend improvements to increase incident readiness posture, and design and document security playbooks and technical documentation to assist in maturing of the wider cloud security programs.
Responsibilities:
- Detect, investigate, and respond to security incidents across the organization offering subject matter expertise in cloud security related incidents.
- Assist in the hands-on configuration, operation, monitoring, and continuous tuning of the Cloud Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP).
- Create and maintain cloud security playbooks to include security automation, policy tuning, and incident response. Assist in the connection of cloud security tools with other threat and vulnerability management initiatives.
- Research, design, and test known tactics, techniques, and procedures used in cloud security attacks to validate effectiveness of security controls across the cloud environment.
- Assist in the approval and onboarding of new Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions in use by the organization. Ensure security controls are applied to new and existing SaaS solutions.
Required Skills:
- 3+ years of cyber security, systems administration, networking and/or cloud engineering experience.
- Excellent knowledge of the incident response process with experience in identifying, containing, and responding to cloud security incidents.
- Expert knowledge of enterprise-grade security technologies and capabilities (e.g. SIEM, DLP, EDR, IPS, Firewalls, Web Security, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of cloud security operations including tuning of logging and monitoring, Identity Access Management (IAM), and network security best practices.
- Hands-on experience configuring, managing, and operating Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) and/or Cloud Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP) tools such as Prisma Cloud, Orca, Wiz, SentinelOne, Palo Alto, Tenable Cloud, or similar technologies.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including proficiency in English.
- Ability to work in an environment with evolving requirements and dynamic schedules.
Desired Skills:
- Prior experience with red or purple team exercises in the scope of cloud assets and technologies.
- Prior experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Prior experience with cyber security tools and capabilities for SaaS cloud applications.
- Prior experience with cyber security incident response.
- Security or Cloud Related Certifications is a plus
- Knowledge of the Spanish language is a plus.
