We currently have an opening for a Senior Human Factors Engineer for our Cardiac Rhythm Management division. This role is located at our Sylmar, CA location.

What You’ll Work On

The Senior Human Factors Engineer represents the Human Factors Engineering discipline on multiple programs, operating with moderate supervision while independently managing assigned Human Factors scope. Has the ability to take an increasingly independent role in support of larger programs, serving as a key stakeholder on cross-functional R&D teams. Demonstrates strength in select Human Factors Engineering skills. Leads the development of Human Factors lifecycle documentation such as Use Specifications, Use-Related Risk Analysis, Formative Protocols/Reports, Summative Protocols/Reports, and Usability Engineering Files with increasingly limited supervision. Plans and conducts customer and competitive research to: identify, prioritize, and develop new projects; create detailed design improvement plans/concepts; and lead internal/external design and development resources. Applies Human-centered Design and Human Factors Engineering principles, collaborating closely with UI/UX partners to support the evaluation and solution of complex product design problems. Consistently monitors professional landscape for usability process improvement opportunities. Exercises independent judgment in planning, organizing, and performing work; monitors and reports status to manager.

• Represents the Human Factors Engineering function and perspective on core teams – strongly advocating for user and customer centricity through optimal design.
• Creates and revises accurate documentation related to the Human Factors & Usability Engineering Process for multiple projects with a higher level of independence, including but not limited to: Usability Engineering Plans, Use Specifications, Use-related risk analyses, Usability Study Protocols & Reports, and Usability Engineering Files.
• Interfaces and builds rapport with a complex network of users including expert customer HCPs, translating feedback from these users into actionable design improvements for the project team.
• Defines, leads, and conducts usability testing from early product prototyping to product validation studies.
• Creates detailed design improvement concepts and effectively communicates the value of those concepts to the project teams. Works across product lines and internal departments to create and manage usability evaluation and/or improvement plans.
• Investigates and defines usability requirements for new product/feature development and facilitates the translation into new projects through usability testing.
• Identifies and analyzes use errors and issues for medical devices and translates these into specific system risk mitigations.
• Simulates or tests aspects of new projects to evaluate prototypes and optimizes the user experience.
• Applies Human Factors, User Experience, User Research, and Human-centered Design principles to determine optimal Human Factors strategies, optimal user interface designs, optimal study designs, and optimal research goals for projects.
• Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
• Keeps updated on and ensures documents adhere to current Regulatory Guidelines on medical device Human Factors, including: FDA Applying Human Factors and Usability Engineering to Medical Devices, NMPA Guidelines for Usability Engineering of Medical Devices, IEC 62366, and ANSI/AAMI HE75.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required Experience

• BS/BA Degree in Human Factors Engineering, Human-computer Interaction, Human Factors Psychology, Human Centered Design, Industrial Design, UI/UX Design/Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in medical device development (or related industry) with a bachelor’s degree; or 3 year of relevant work experience in medical device development (or related industry) with a Master’s Degree, etc.
• Experience with applying understanding of human factors and/or usability engineering to issues to complete deliverables within assigned projects.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively integrate information from varied disciplines including R&D Engineering, Marketing, and Regulatory Affairs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
• Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
• Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Senior Biocompatibility Scientist I

As a Senior Biocompatibility Scientist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring patient safety by supporting projects and programs related to the biocompatibility of medical devices and materials, including the impact of manufacturing processes. You will represent the Global Biocompatibility Group within Shared Services as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in biocompatibility. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to provide biocompatibility deliverables in compliance with global regulatory requirements, including but not limited to the ISO 10993 series of standards, ISO 14971, FDA Biocompatibility Guidance, and Regulation (EU) 2017/745.

You will leverage your specialized knowledge of medical device biocompatibility throughout the product lifecycle and interpret regulatory requirements and guidance governing Class II and Class III devices. You will apply biocompatibility requirements and develop evaluation strategies across product development and change management activities. Reporting to the DVP of AI, Data, and Automation, the Senior Director of Information Management, Data and Analytics is responsible for our enterprise data and analytics capability. You will own the strategy, lead the team, and architect our pragmatic transition from a fragmented data landscape to a modern, AI-ready foundation, without disrupting what the business depends on today.

You will lead a global technical organization of 50+ FTEs comprising data engineers, architects, BI developers, data product owners, and integration specialists across four interconnected domains: Data Analytics & BI, Data Mesh & Products, Data Platform & Integration, and Governance & Information Management.

What You’ll Work On

Information Management Strategy & Architecture

• Define the multi-year data and analytics strategy aligned with the organizational AI agenda; build investment-backed roadmaps and migration strategies in conjunction with Abbott business units/divisions.
• Establish the architectural blueprint for Information Management, ensuring the organization has the skills and capabilities to design, develop, and deploy cloud-native data fabrics with a pragmatic migration path from legacy foundations, accounting for Abbott’s regulatory requirements. Own the integration and application landscape; make clear decisions on what to build, consolidate, integrate, or retire, and define the organizational structure required to support the strategy.
• Define and enforce data engineering standards across the delivery organization to enable a high-performance organization, including branching strategies, data CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and DataOps practices that ensure repeatable, auditable, and high-quality delivery. Stay current with the pace of change in data and AI technology, evaluating emerging standards and translating relevance into pragmatic adoption plans.

Data Platform & Integration

• Lead platform modernization while maintaining critical business operations, ensuring the organization has the capabilities and oversight to design data contracts, integration standards, and observability practices across systems and domains. Ensure the platform architecture supports both batch and real-time data workloads, including event-streaming patterns required for AI inference pipelines and operational analytics, as well as modern database technologies, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code practices..
• Implement MDM disciplines for core entities; build pipeline reliability, SLA tracking, lineage, and automated quality controls, ensuring data observability through suitable tooling.
• Drive application rationalization of the tooling estate for information management, publish standards, negotiate with vendors, and consolidate in support of global application rationalization requirements.

Data Mesh, Data Products & BI

• Drive the shift from pipeline operations to a federated data product model/domain-owned, SLA-governed, documented assets that analytics and AI teams can depend on, built on a self-serve data infrastructure.
• Lead the design and delivery of BI systems and self-service analytics that give business units confidence in the data underlying their decisions, leveraging modern BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent) with governed semantic layers and dataset frameworks.
• Develop KPI frameworks, enterprise reporting standards, and executive dashboards that deliver a consistent, trusted view of the business across divisions.
• Champion the shift from report delivery to analytical product ownership with defined consumers, feedback loops, versioning, and quality SLAs for every data product.

AI Enablement

• Ensure the data estate is AI-ready: clean, accessible, versioned, and governed for model training and inference, including support for LLM fine-tuning, RAG pipelines, and real-time feature serving in partnership with broader members of the BTS organization.
• Build and operate feature stores, real-time pipelines, and vector-enabled datasets supporting both predictive and generative AI use cases, in close partnership with AI Engineering.
• Conduct data readiness assessments before AI investment is committed, scoping use cases against data reality, and maintain a live view of data quality and coverage across priority AI initiatives.

Team Leadership

• Lead, develop, and retain a global organization of 50+ technical professionals, including data engineers, platform architects, BI developers, data product owners, and governance specialists.
• Build a team narrative and capability evolution path that defines the skills needed at periodic stages, and develop plans to shape the organization strategically, including what to hire, develop, and partner with externally.
• Upskill the team in modern data engineering practices and provide technical and professional leadership in information management delivery.
• Foster a culture of engineering excellence, continuous improvement, where data quality and reliability are team values, not compliance obligations.

Program & Project Delivery

• Function as senior accountable owner for major data platform and transformation programs with budgets up to $30M, balancing run-the-business obligations with build-the-future delivery with ownership of end-to-end delivery of the data and analytics program portfolio from business case through to production with clear milestones, strong program delivery focus, governance, and stakeholder reporting at every stage.  Hold rights on strategic vendors and tooling used within the Information Management domain, in alignment with Abbott Business Technology Services guidelines and the DVP of AI, Data, and Automation.
• Establish and sustain a portfolio management discipline: prioritization frameworks, dependency mapping, investment tracking, capacity planning, and executive-level reporting on program status and value realized. Apply structured delivery methodologies, including both waterfall and Agile, iterative delivery, and DevOps/DataOps practices that balance speed of delivery with the rigor required in a regulated enterprise environment.
• Ensure all programs maintain compliance with Abbott’s IT governance framework, change management standards, and relevant regulatory requirements throughout the delivery lifecycle

Required Qualifications

• Masters Degree Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration or similar
• 12+ years in data management, data engineering, analytics, or information architecture with at least 5 years in senior leadership of established global teams and multi-year technology programs
• Proven track record of leading and modernizing enterprise data estates: migrating from legacy warehouse architectures to cloud-native, AI-ready platforms while maintaining business continuity.
• Deep familiarity with the modern data stack: cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, or BigQuery), transformation and orchestration (Apache Airflow), open table formats (Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake), and BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau).
• Hands-on experience designing and operating data governance programs at enterprise scale, including data cataloging, metadata management, data quality frameworks, and MDM in complex, federated organizations.
• Experience running a global IT delivery organization with 30+ technical FTEs, managing programs up to $30M in size, applying structured delivery methodologies in a regulated enterprise environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex global vendor portfolios, negotiating enterprise technology contracts, managing SLAs, and building strategic supplier relationships.

What You’ll Work On

The Senior Director AI Strategy, Governance & Transformation, converts enterprise AI ambition into prioritized use cases, governed delivery, and realized business value. This leader owns the AI portfolio, resourcing and prioritization—from idea intake and prioritization to Responsible AI oversight, operational and change management, adoption, and benefits tracking—ensuring AI becomes a repeatable engine for growth, productivity, and risk‑aware innovation.

Enterprise Use‑Case Strategy & Portfolio

• Stand up and lead an enterprise AI Portfolio Office (APO) that manages demand intake, evaluation, and cross‑BU prioritization. Run regular portfolio reviews with IT, Finance and Business Unit Leaders to ensure strategic and investment alignment.
• Build a 12–24‑month AI roadmap that sequences lighthouse use cases alongside platform enablers; define rubic scores across value, feasibility, risk and data readiness.

Governance and Responsible AI

• Partner with existing data use and global compliance councils to operationalize Responsible AI standards (fairness, transparency, privacy, safety, explainability, human oversight) across the lifecycle.
• Oversee model risk classification, AI risk registers, human‑in‑the‑loop controls, documentation and audit readiness across the lifecycle.
• Govern third‑party AI/LLM providers and data usage in partnership with Legal, Procurement, and Security.
• Establish stage gate governance with clear exit criteria, investment thresholds and benefits tracking (discovery – pilot – scale)

Process Transformation & Adoption

• Lead process reengineering and design to make workflows AI ready—defining new roles, policy guardrails, controls, and exception handling.
• Build and execute a change management and enablement engine (communications, training, playbooks, competency development) to drive sustained adoption.
• Partner with R&D to build highly technical training programs and HR/L&D to build enterprise AI fluency programs for executives, product owners, engineers, and end‑users.

Value Realization & Performance Management

• Design and implement benefits tracking—from baseline to post‑deployment value capture (revenue, cost, risk, CX).
• Publish a quarterly AI Value Dashboard (adoption, time‑to‑value, ROI, control effectiveness, incident reporting, model performance).

Organizational Leadership and Influence

• Run a cross‑functional steering forum with Technology, Risk/Compliance, Legal, Security, to unblock, align, and accelerate.

Partnership with AI Engineering (Operating Model)

• Co‑own AI release readiness (security, privacy, resilience, monitoring) and handoffs from experiment → production → run.
• Align platform roadmaps with prioritized use cases; ensure reusability via APIs, shared services, templates, guardrails, standardized tooling.

Success Profile (12–24 Months)

A governed AI portfolio is in place with clear sponsorship, funding, and stage‑gates; 3–5 lighthouse use cases scaled enterprise‑wide. Responsible AI embedded in intake, build, and run; positive outcomes in internal audit/external exams. Adoption and value realization metrics established and tracked A durable AI operating model (APO, governance forums, dashboards, playbooks) used across business units. High trust and alignment between business, risk, and engineering, with demonstrable acceleration and fewer production frictions. Process re-engineering is a key enabler for all AI transformation efforts.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Data/Analytics, or related)
• 15+ years in strategy, transformation, product/portfolio leadership, or risk/governance roles within complex regulated industries (financial services, automotive, or large‑scale technology); 7+ years working with AI/ML initiatives.
• Built and led an enterprise portfolio office or transformation program with measurable outcomes (multi‑BU scale).
• Hands‑on experience with Responsible AI/Risk, regulatory engagement, and audit‑ready controls in complex environments.

• Proven track record driving adoption and realizing benefits for AI‑enabled process change.

Job Summary

The Senior Manager of R&D in Abbott Vascular’s New Brighton location is a broad and dynamic role that spans activities that range from developing long range strategy to assisting with daily execution of product development activities and programs. The role has direct management responsibilities over R&D engineering functions within Abbott Vascular R&D. This individual will play a role in technical stewardship of Abbott Vascular’s product innovations, working cross-functionally to keep Abbott’s products in a leadership position long-term.

With the Abbott Vascular R&D leadership team, the individual will be responsible for attracting and developing the top technical talent necessary to successfully execute Abbott Vascular’s product plan; will share in identifying and implementing innovative solutions and best practices, creating and scaling robust processes; and ultimately will develop products that meet or exceed customer requirements for quality, safety, and effectiveness and Abbott’s requirements for marketability. This role requires a proven track record of leading high performing teams and delivering fully developed medical products to market.

The Senior Manager will interact and collaborate with a broad set of stakeholders, including directors and executives throughout the organization, physician customers, external suppliers, OEM partners, and service providers.

Main Responsibilities

• Responsible for hiring and retaining diverse, highly qualified staff and providing career coaching, growth, and personal development. Accountable for staff development: critiquing, instructing, mentoring, coaching, and evaluation. Accountable for the performance of subordinates and work output of managed subcontractors.
• Responsible for leading and fostering an innovative and ambitious culture within R&D that is consistent with Abbott Vascular’s core values. Translates mission and vision into actionable, quantitative plans.
• Sets expectations and objectives for direct reports and monitors progress.
• Participates in Abbott Vascular’s business cycle including strategic planning, organization and talent planning, and annual operating planning.
• Collaborates on new device planning, knowledge sharing, and innovative design. Works not only with engineering direct reports and peers but also with partners from marketing, regulatory, clinical affairs, quality, and operations.
• Supports lifecycle management of current and future products from ideation, through development, to sustaining. Drives innovation in all aspects of product development.
• Prepares and delivers presentations to senior management and cross-functional teams as required.
• Direct and makes decisions to resolve systematic problems and to improve efficiency and speed of activities associated with medical device development.
• Apply technical expertise to diagnosing design and manufacturing quality problems.
• Coordinate with project managers to assign resources and operate within timelines and budgets.
• Comply with FDA regulations; other regulatory requirements; and company policies, operating procedures, and processes. Works cross-functionally to ensure proper documentation systems are implemented. Reviews and provides functional approval for project and quality system documentation.
• Ensure technical competency and expertise in the organization around risk, product safety requirements, reliability, usability requirements, and global regulatory standards and compliance.
• Remain current on developments in field of expertise, regulatory requirements, and industry trends. Maintains knowledge of current and novel technology through literature, trade journals, university associations, and by attending scientific conferences.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Masters in technical or business field preferred.

As a Senior Software Test Engineer, you will lead verification activities for cloud‑based web and mobile applications in a regulated medical device environment. You will:

What You’ll Work On

Primary Function:

• Accountable for timely project task completion for multiple concurrent projects to include projects focused on new ingredients and ingredient sourcing, new/revised product formulations, packaging materials, and/or processes.
• Under supervision, designs/executes development strategy for the projects, experiments, and tests application hypotheses.  Communicates findings and technical opinions clearly and effectively via reports, conference calls, and emails.  Conducts formulation development in compliance with various regulations.  Applies knowledge of formulations, ingredients, and manufacturing processes to projects.
• Conduct ingredient assessments and research application development for multiple projects to make them ready for commercial production.
• Actively contributes to supply chain operational idea generation (improved process, improved margin).  Provides technical input into Design-To-Value process.
• Works with R&D lead scientists, formulation experts, project management, purchasing, regulatory, supplier quality, design quality, and/or process engineering as part of large cross-functional project teams to assess ingredient and/or formulation changes.  Assessments can include scale-up from bench top analysis, analyses in research facilities or pilot plants, and commercial implementation.
• Tracks hours and monthly activities. Is accountable for timely project task completion as assigned.
• Under supervision, executes experiments and completes documentation.  Summarizes data and analyzes results; formulates conclusions / recommendations and communicates these to management and project teams.

Major Responsibilities:

• Assess ingredient sourcing concepts for feasibility and understand formulation implications of related requests.
• Execute approved project concepts, to include formulation calculations, research trials, data organization, report writing, and commercialization.
• Understand nutritional formulations and impacts of individual ingredients on formulations, including physical characteristics, nutritional inputs, and sensory attributes.
• Evaluate ingredient technical and compliance requirements for Abbott Nutrition manufacturing and use in formulations as applicable.  Has familiarity with ingredient standards and evaluations (USP, FCC).
• Executes testing plans and experiments to assess new ingredient sources.  Ensure ingredients and suppliers comply with all regulatory and functional requirements and Abbott standards.

Required Qualifications

Preferred:

• Prior CPG application development or closely related experience desired; experience with nutraceutical formulations is a plus.

• Technical writing skills to produce reports and technical documents from multiple sources of information.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This Senior Manager, Software Engineering, Digital Solutions position can work out of our Santa Clara, CA location.

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering, Digital Solutions provides overall technical leadership for a portfolio of digital products, ensuring modern, scalable, and secure solutions that leverage GenAI, Agentic AI, and code-generation tools to accelerate design, development, and delivery. This leader drives architecture, rapid prototyping, and deployment across edge and cloud environments; owns the technology product goal and backlog; and partners closely with Product, Marketing, Corporate IT, and Security within Abbott to ensure alignment to market and healthcare needs. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 10+ years in software engineering with 5+ years leading multi-team engineering organizations building cloud-native or hybrid solutions.
• Demonstrated success leading architecture and delivery for complex, scalable systems across cloud and/or edge.
• Hands-on understanding of GenAI/LLMs, Agentic AI patterns, and code-generation tools; proven record of introducing modern engineering practices to accelerate throughput.
• Strong experience with DevOps/CI-CD, containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), IaC (e.g., Terraform), and observability.
• Proven ability to own and manage a technology backlog, translate business outcomes to technical work, and prioritize for value.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills; ability to influence across enterprise functions (Product, Marketing, IT, Security, Compliance).

Preferred

• Master’s degree (e.g., MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Engineering Management).
• Experience in regulated healthcare, medical devices, or similarly regulated industries; familiarity with quality systems and software lifecycle standards (e.g., IEC 62304) is a plus.
• Practical experience with LLMOps/MLOps (e.g., model selection, fine-tuning, evaluation, prompt engineering, safety, and data governance).
• Exposure to vector databases, AI orchestration frameworks (e.g., Semantic Kernel, LangChain), API gateways, and event streaming technologies such as Kafka.
• Track record of developing platform capabilities (SDKs, templates, reference architectures) that enable self‑service and scale across product teams.
• Experience working with third‑party vendors, SIs, and managing technical contracts or sourcing negotiations.

The Opportunity:

Working independently under limited supervision, performs highly complex and specialized level software project activities in such areas as Development, Tools, Test, Requirements and/or related areas. The Opportunity

As a Senior Electrical / Embedded Systems Engineer on the Vascular R&D team, you will contribute to the design, development, and testing of next-generation intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) systems.

This role is highly hands-on and systems-focused, working at the intersection of embedded electronics, firmware, automation, and experimental test systems. You will collaborate closely with electrical, software, mechanical, and systems engineers, as well as clinical, quality, manufacturing, and regulatory partners, to develop innovative devices and advanced characterization methods that ensure efficacy, safety, and manufacturability.

What You’ll Work On

• Contribute to the design and development of intravascular lithotripsy equipment and catheter systems.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define requirements, develop prototypes, and plan and execute experiments.

As a Senior Cyber Fraud Specialist on Abbott’s Product Cybersecurity team, you will play a critical role in building and scaling Abbott’s cyber fraud capability from the ground up. This is a highly visible opportunity to stand up fraud prevention processes, tooling, and operating models that protect Abbott’s global digital platforms against increasingly sophisticated cyber fraud threats.

In this role, you will partner closely with teams across e‑commerce, consumer loyalty, digital platforms, and customer support to embed fraud prevention and detection controls early in the product lifecycle. You will serve as a foundational subject matter expert, helping shape Abbott’s enterprise approach to cyber fraud risk management, while ensuring a secure, resilient, and trusted digital experience for customers worldwide.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in cyber fraud, fraud operations, or cybersecurity operations within an e‑commerce or digital environment
• Demonstrated expertise in fraud detection, investigation, incident response, and prevention strategies
• Experience tuning, optimizing, or implementing fraud detection and monitoring platforms
• Strong understanding of adversarial tactics and abuse patterns used in cyber fraud
• Working knowledge of threat modeling methodologies (e.g., STRIDE, PASTA) applied to fraud use cases
• Experience with fraud data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
• Familiarity with digital investigations, log analysis, data management, and scripting or automation tools
• Proven ability to author, operationalize, and mature incident response and fraud playbooks
• Hands‑on experience leveraging cyber fraud or threat intelligence
• Strong collaboration skills and comfort working in ambiguous, build‑from‑scratch environments

• Define the strategy to build a high performing AI product development team. Formulate team goals to support business growth objectives, performance management, recruit, develop and retain talent to support business needs.

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in relevant field (e.g., applied mathematics, computer science, engineering, applied statistics)

What You’ll Do

The Principal ML Engineer will work from our Chicago, Willis Tower office within the Medical Devices Digital Solutions organization. In this role, you will lead the technical execution of Abbott’s Medical Devices Digital (MDD) AI initiatives, bridging advanced algorithm research with scalable engineering solutions. You will be vital in developing and maintaining a robust AI development framework, establishing production-grade MLOps capabilities, and collaborating closely with data scientists, infrastructure specialists, and algorithm teams to ensure effective AI solution deployments.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end ML solutions development and delivery, including data ingestion, feature engineering, training, validation, deployment, and monitoring.

• Architect a highly available, secure, scalable cloud/on-prem hybrid ML infrastructure.

• Engage directly with ML scientists, contribute to algorithm development, and act as the team’s bridge/glue between science and engineering.

Required Qualifications

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer I (Backend) to design and development of scalable, cloud-native applications. • Maintenance and Enhancement of Automated Systems: Continuously improve automation frameworks and test suites. Identify and implement opportunities to replace manual testing with automation.
• Collaboration and Technical Leadership: Work closely with developers and QA team members to integrate automation into the development lifecycle. Provide technical guidance when needed, but this is not a lead or managerial role.
• Technical Documentation and System Documentation: Produce clear, concise documentation for automated tests, frameworks, and processes. Ensure documentation meets regulatory and compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in a scientific, technical, or engineering discipline
• 5+ years’ experience in Software Testing and/or Software Quality Assurance
• 5+ years’ experience working as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with recent, hands‑on automation coding
• 4–6 years of hands‑on coding experience in Python (or similar modern programming language)
• Must be technically strong and have experience testing mobile applications
• Must have UI or API automation experience; mobile automation with Appium is a major plus
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

• Learn and improve our existing Go-based health care platforms.
• Design and implement services and components utilizing Go for cloud-based platforms.

• Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and integrate with APIs that empower users to share and utilize their medical data in partner systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Opportunity

This position works out of our Lake County location in the Business Solutions & Services Plan/Build organization.

As the MES Application Architect, you’ll have the chance to drive full manufacturing site transformations through software and automation solutions in the IT/OT environment for global manufacturing facilities. This position requires a blend of manufacturing knowledge, technical consulting expertise, and “hands on” builder/implementation skills. The Application Architect is responsible for designing and developing POMS software in the IT/OT environment for facilities across Abbott. The MES Application Architect will collaboratively develop, troubleshoot, and maintain standard MES and automation architecture utilizing a strategic approach of industry standards with a focus on building re-useable, scalable solutions.

Application Architect is responsible for aligning technology solutions with business strategies, working across Abbott functions. Successful candidate acts as the principal designer for major systems and their subsystems utilizing a thorough understanding of available technology, tools and existing designs.

What You’ll Work On

• Act as subject matter experience with MES and industrial automation
• Works with business units, engineering, and infrastructure teams to design and build recipes and application integrations to align with business objectives
• ​Experience implementing robust manufacturing systems and processes
• Strong knowledge of supply chain management or manufacturing processes, having the ability to implement strategies to improve the efficiency of the process
• Understanding of integration between MES, PLM, ERP
• Experience with equipment integration and shop floor systems
• Experience with POMSnet recipe and base data update/creation
• Demonstrate end to end understanding of process flow, able to gather requirements, design, develop and build recipes
• Support site critical MES enhancement projects, including hardware upgrade, process streamline, architecture upgrade, recipe delivery, and testing coordination.
• Follow the Computerized Systems Validation process and Software Lifecycle (SLC) methodology to build and qualify/validate systems.
• Assess near-term needs and develop technical solutions; advise on options, risks, costs versus benefits, and impact on other business processes and system priorities
• Partner with the functional groups within the IT organization to communicate and clarify business needs, contribute to development of long-range system plans, and ensure products and services are aligned with business needs
• Serve as technical expert and lead technical staff to develop, test and implement significant new products, or operational improvements or devise new approaches to problems at the division/business unit
• Review, validate & enhance design, conduct performance monitoring and capacity planning; install, test and upgrade releases and associated products.
• Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree Preferred / 9+ years’ experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• At least 7 years’ experience with C# or Java software development & designing
• Experience with global scale manufacturing systems (POMSNet) development, integration, and support
